Okay, I'm not one to typically "advertise" places on our family blog, but I gotta give Smith's props today. In this week's ad, it mentioned at the bottom that they were doing an Easter Egg Hunt. Since last years egg hunt at the city park SUCKED (There were HUNDREDS of people, and the hunt lasted 2 minutes with neither of our kids getting ONE egg), we decided to try Smith's instead. There were a few advantages:
First, they were offering free breakfast for the hour leading up to the hunt. Donut holes and chocolate milk, baby!
Second, their hunt started at 8:30 am instead of 9:00. We were planning to go to the Home Depot to do their free activity, which also started at 9:00, so this gave us a little time (Home Depot workshops are first come, first serve)
And thirdly, their hunt was AWESOME! They sent kids of different ages to different sections in the store, and they LOADED the place with candy. Seriously. It's gonna take us months and months to finish all this candy (and that's with Mom and Dad helping). They had a few eggs, but not many. One manager was putting down eggs right in front of the really little kids, and he gave Parker two. Inside the eggs were candy, but also a coupons for FREE items (FULL bags of pretzels and stuff)!!! Y'all know I'm a coupon nerd.
Anywho, Buddy Boy, who didn't even want to participate, finally decided to start putting candy in his basket, but was taking his sweet time. We were worried he'd come away with nothing. Oh, nope, that wasn't a problem. He was the only one in his area, and at his leisurely pace, he completely filled his basket. The store employees continued to bring out candy DURING the hunt, to keep it going for the full half hour. We counted Munchkin's basket of candy, and between the two baskets, we came away with more than 250 pieces of candy! Oh me oh my.
Afterwards, we headed over to Home Depot (how convenient that it was located right next door!) and did our projects. Buddy Boy made a bug house, and Munchkin made a butterfly house. Some good fun!! Then we watched general conference while the kids played "conference bingo" and used their candy as markers.
Yay for good local community activities!

Awesome! Looks like the kids had a great time (and feel free to share some candy! lol )
Wow! I'm so glad you found Smith's for your kids.
That is nice!!! Maybe I'll have to try that out next year!!!
Sounds like a really perfect easter!! You should write them a letter or email, telling them thank you! Hopefully they'll keep doing it, if they know someone is really glad they did it! Besides, its just nice to say "thank you!" ha! LOVE the picture of Akaila with crazy, victorious look in her eye! CANDY!!! So cute!!
One other thing: Two words-Donut holes, milk. Oh my YUM!!!
ha ha Mae, you hit it right on the head. I'm glad you like that one picture of Akaila; the first thing I said when I saw it was "that face makes me think of Rylan!"
